The Skyboxes haven't been hacked / chipped and I would say they probably never will be. Switching off anytime just disables the feature. I got this box about 6 Hours ago and took that long for me to set up and updated but I have Now TV- - Netflix -sky on home page and Kodi as well . Needs some more time spend as sky go not working yet main reason I bought this but am fairly happy I have emailed the suppliers and asked some questions about set up re sky
